Sidelight Blinds & Window Treatments With Matching Transom

Sidelight Blinds

Sidelights windows on a front door are fairly common. But this is something that is rather unique: a transom window on the same door!

Front Door Window Blinds

This door needed blinds for two sidelight windows and the transom window above the door. Transom windows can be tricky because they are treated as a window but they are smaller than a typical window. Depending upon the particular blinds, it can be difficult to get the exact size needed to fit the window. And then you have to be concerned with the window depth, especially for sidelight window coverings. Ideally, the transom window should extend (or be recessed) the same amount as the sidelight windows.

Many homes in Toledo, Maumee, Sylvania, Perrysburg and other areas of NW Ohio and SE Michigan have arch windows. We've been able to help many of these homeowners and we can do the same for you. Just call us at (419) 381-2700 Blinds and cellular shades are the most popular types of window treatment in the Toledo OH area. (That could be wood blinds or faux blinds). But often times people will build a home and have arch windows installed and later realize that sunlight comes through into the room. There aren't a lot of choices for uniquely designed windows. One solution is a cellular shade that can be made into an arch. This can work in many circumstances but what if you want to have the window covered at times but open at other times? These are some of the concerns come up with homeowners AFTER the fact. Window Treatments For Arched Shaped Windows This window shade offers the perfect solution for those who have arch shaped windows and would like to have the flexibility of having the shade open or closed. And for convenience, this window shade is motorized! So these could be considered cordless cellular blinds. The downside to this window treatment is that, as you might expect, it is not an inexpensive shade, and that's because of several factors. 1. In order to make a shade that fits this type of window, a template must be first created that outlines the exact shape of the window. If it's not the precise shape of the window, the shade will not fit. (That's why we must take the measurements and make the template. These are custom-made; if they're made wrong that's one thing. If they're measured wrong, you own a very expensive paperweight! 2. The material, of course, is included with the price of the shade. And there is a fairly wide variety of available materials from which to choose. 3. The motorization is an extra feature that involves the motor itself, remote control, the wiring and electrical connectors. 4. The installation is significantly more complex than a typical cellular shade. Often these are mounted at a considerable height and sometimes there are other factors such as having to drill through steel or concrete. So this is not your typical shade nor a typical installation. Some manufacturers do offer a stationary cellular shade that can fit these windows. But even in those cases, a template must still be made, so expect to pay more for even those than you would for a regular cellular shade honeycomb window blind shade. These are not considered blackout shades (also known as room darkening shades). But an added bonus is that cellular shades are considered to be the best window coverings for insulation. Unfortunately, we can only offer this type of shade to clients in the Toledo Ohio area because we must measure and install this shade. I've been told that Hunter Douglas (TM) doesn't even offer an alternative to this decorating dilemma! So if you're in the local Toledo area, we can help! If you're not from this area, we apologize but we're not able to be of assistance.
